Two seriously injured in vehicle accident

Two people are in serious condition following a three vehicle accident yesterday morning on US 169 in Andrew County, two miles north of St. Joseph.

According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by 35-year-old Christopher H. Bower of Guilford was slowing to turn westbound on County Road 354 around 7:10 a.m. when a pick up driven by 36-year-old Troy D Hutchcraft of St. Joseph failed to yield and struck the rear of Bower's vehicle. Bower ended facing north after hitting a stop sign and an unoccupied parked jeep. Hutchcraft's vehicle continued south, crossed the center line, went off the roadway and struck a fence.

Both drivers were taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment of serious injuries. The accident was investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol and the Andrew County Sheriff's Department.
